Overview

Explore Old Africa in Style Such is Africa’s allure: that a bright fellow like Hemingway would lie in his tent, homesick before he’d even parted from a place that had come to seem more like home than home itself. We’re told these days to stick to the now, and the here, but Hemingway—like many of us lovers of Africa—knew that sometimes you can’t micromanage your passions. This safari—a cherished favourite of Safari Revive staff—is a tribute, not only to Africa’s tendency to grab hold of our hearts, but also to the old-fashioned and cozy safaris of Hemingway’s time, with three tented camps (a little more luxurious than in Ernest’s day, but he was never one to avoid intelligently offered luxury), good looks at East Africa’s most legendary game parks (and a couple of lesser-known gems), and five swooping flights that bring us into great intimacy with Africa’s landscapes.

In the afternoon, we’ll set off on a thrilling game viewing adventure. Explore the baboon cliff, lion hill, and the Mau escarpment, among other interesting places. The park boasts an array of wildlife, including prides of lions, Cape buffalos, waterbucks, wart hogs, endangered Rothschild giraffes, black & white rhinos, Burchell’s zebras, impalas, and the elusive leopard, among others. With over 300 bird species recorded, Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the best places to see the endangered black and white rhino. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 4 Masai Mara Game Reserve

Indulge in sumptuous breakfast before setting off for a full day of adventure. Keep a keen eye out for the famous big five – lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and black rhinos. The Maasai Mara’s history as a famous hunting destination adds a sense of awe to spotting these majestic creatures. If we’re lucky, we may even witness a thrilling leopard or cheetah sprint and make a kill! Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: Choose between a Balloon Safari over the Mara plains followed by a champagne breakfast or a visit to a traditional Masai Manyatta (off the beaten track) to experience the culture of this world-famous community. Interact with the nomadic Maasai people and learn about their customs and traditions.
